BAM – Cobham Services M25 Construction – Chapter 8 Chevron Kits
The client was due to begin work on the construction of the Cobham Services on the M25 as part of the Balfour Beatty contract. They had been informed, at short notice, that their existing markings used the wrong material and were non-compliant so there was a wide range of vehicles that needed the correct markings with a quick turnaround.

Description of requirement

The BAM site manager needed us to advise what the current recommendations were for chapter 8 compliance on a high speed road and to then supply the kits, as well as chapter 8 compliant light bars, for their vehicles and their sub-contractors. He also needed us to supervise the supply of kits to ensure that anybody going onto site would meet the requirements.

How did PVL approach the enquiry?

After initially finding PVL through our website we immediately meet with the client on site to ensure that they fully understood the requirements and to agree a specification for the site before beginning to supply the kits.

We also sourced a supplier for the light bars and provided a simple guide and price list which could be made available to both BAM and their sub-contractors.

By maintaining a single point of contact the customer has been able to follow the orders as they have been placed so that delivery timescales have been met and any queries have been dealt with swiftly.

What we supplied

We supplied magnetic chapter 8 rear kits and chevron boards for a wide variety of vehicles ranging from cars to trucks that needed access to the site whilst providing a point of reference for the site manager. We have also project managed the sub-contractors to ensure that any kits supplied are compliant.

What was the outcome?

We have supplied kits directly to BAM through their procurement team for use on site as well as a lot of the sub-contractors over the past few months. This has included templating some more unusual vehicles when needed before supplying the kits.

Speed and consistency of the kits have been the main challenges but we have succeeded in meeting the demands for quality, compliance and turnaround on every occasion.
