Bus Wrap for Downton House!
The Client & the Project
Our client wanted a branded bus to transport their customers from a car park to a house. Nothing too unusual there it would seem. Thankfully this project was far from “usual” and was very rewarding for both our client and the PVL team.
The client was the National Trust and the “House” was none other than Waddesdon Manor; one of the National Trust’s most iconic properties. The “House” may be familiar as it has been used for many film sets and TV programmes (including Downton Abbey).
The branding of the bus was also far from usual. The bus needed to be fully wrapped in a design reflecting the work of the world renowned artist Bruce Munro . It was due to be part of the launch of the Winter Light at Waddesdon exhibition.
What we did
At PVL we are used to meeting tight vehicle branding deadlines and this project was no exception. There was only three weeks until the launch day for the Bruce Munro exhibition yet there was still no design and even no bus!
Since there were no scale templates available for the bus for us to work from, we arranged for one of our specialist application team to be onsite the day the bus was delivered so detailed measurements could be made and a template created.
Working with the raw images provided by the creative team at Waddesdon Manor, PVL’s design division, Preview, created the design for the bus, made various amendments and tweaks and got approval from our client within seven days.
Production of the vinyl wraps
Our production team could then get to work printing the bus wrap.
We printed the images using our Eco-friendly latex print system on to 3M’s IJ180 premium grade wrapping vinyl and a large amount of contravision (one way perforated vision film) to cover the large windows on the bus with the continuous image.
Our highly skilled vehicle wrap fitting team then fitted the wrap at the client’s location, in time for the press launch outside the Manor house on Wednesday 13th November.
The Outcome
We were delighted to hear that the artist, Bruce Munro and all the team at Waddesdon Manor all loved the bus wrap:
“Very many thanks for a fantastic wrap! It looks wonderful and very smart parked up in front of the House for the launch today.
I look forward to working with you next year on the others!”
Kim Hallett – Head Sales & Marketing

Suzy Barron – Marketing Department
“A big thank you to the team at Waddesdon Manor NT for hosting such a wonderful launch to Bruce’s new exhibition last night. We all agree the highlight of the evening was seeing Bruce’s name and some enormous Water Towers on the side of the new Waddesdon bus!”
